Zulqarnain Haider
Assistant Vice President (Meezan Bank)
I chose Riphah International University specifically Riphah Center for Islamic Business and Finance Department to make my dream comes true. Soon after the completion of my MBA I had a job offer from 1st Islamic Bank of Pakistan. Since then I am attached with Islamic Finance Industry. I express my sincere gratitude to people of Riphah and people of Islamic Business Industry those played a vital role in bringing this difference in my life and this journey will be continued InshaAllah.
Islamic Business and Finance is rapidly growing in the world and has become need of the people from all disciplines. As Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in his speech on the occasion of inauguration of State Bank of Pakistan on 1st July 1948, aspired to build the economic and financial system of country in line with injunctions of Islam. He said,
“I shall watch with keenness the work of your Research Organization in evolving banking practices compatible with Islamic ideas of social and economic life…. The adoption of Western economic theory and practice will not help us in achieving our goal of creating a happy and contented people. We must work our destiny in our own way and present to the world an economic system based on true Islamic concept of equality of manhood and social justice. We will thereby be fulfilling our mission as Muslims and giving to humanity the message of peace which alone can save and secure the welfare, happiness and prosperity of mankind. ”
Unfortunately, there are fewer universities in Pakistan offering this kind of program and Riphah is on the top in the list in promoting Islamic Business and Finance. There should be more enrollments in this program, students those are studying conventional banking must make it a part of their studies also. It is the responsibility of universities to develop a strong linkage with industry to place students for research and development. Industry leaders should also address challenges of the students. It’s our vision to develop an interest free economic system that is essential for Pakistan’s economy.
